- Equine Therapy
Equine TherapyA form of animal therapy, equine therapy involves visiting, working with and sometimes riding horses as a way to create a metaphoric relationship that leads to life-altering insights. - Detox
DetoxThough not all rehab facilities offer “medical detoxification,” all people with an addiction to drugs or alcohol will experience intense physical and emotional changes and discomfort as their bodies react to withdrawal of the addictive substance. Many people use the term “detox” to refer to the period of time (ranging from a few days to a week) when the body is reacting to an addict’s decision to stop using. - Individualized Treatment
Individualized TreatmentSome facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)EMDR is a highly specific, research-validated form of therapy that can help people overcome traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. With EMDR, a trained practitioner uses bilateral stimulation, eye movement and touch to stimulate parts of the brain as a patient recounts certain experiences and memories as a way to more thoroughly process uncomfortable, painful feelings.

Imelda founded Beachside on the premise that what recovering addict’s need, in addition to a strong therapy program and the opportunity to get sober, is to find peace. Beachside was inspired by the tranquil surroundings and calm atmosphere of North Hutchinson Island. Imelda has created an oasis of healing that reminds each client to find peace within. Imelda works alongside the Program Director to ensure the clients receive a strong clinical program in addition to a program that addresses health, wellness, and spirituality. Imelda believes it is a holistic approach that will have the most resounding impact when overcoming the grip of addiction. Having dealt with addiction within her own family and then working through her own recovery program of Al-Anon, Imelda is all too familiar with what it takes to get sober and stay sober. Imelda believes a strong family program is integral to helping client’s sobriety.
